Time blocking is a planning method that divides your day into smaller blocks of time.

Time blocking is a great way to make sure you are able to focus on your work. When you time block, you focus on a single task or group of similar tasks for an uninterrupted period of time. It’s the perfect productivity hack for those that find themselves easily distracted by other tasks or events in their day. This blog post will cover 5 strategies that can help anyone who wants to start using this strategy and see some benefits!

Find a calendar that works for you

There are many different types of calendars out there, but I prefer to use my Google Calendar as it is where I have all my important events and tasks synced. If you’re more comfortable with a physical planner, that’s great too! Just make sure to block out enough time in your day for the activities you need to complete.

Plan ahead

One of the best ways to use time blocking is by planning ahead. This means knowing what you want to accomplish in the future and breaking it down into small, time-block-sized chunks. Time blocking can also be used to plan your daily schedule or what you want to accomplish for that week.

Make sure there is enough space between tasks

When you are planning out your day using this method, make sure there is some breathing room in between each task. This is so you’re not rushed and can complete each activity without feeling overwhelmed.

Create a task list

This goes hand in hand with planning ahead. Creating a task list for the day or week will help make sure you are completing everything you need to, as well as give you an idea of what you should be working on next.

Use a timer

If you’re finding it difficult to stay on task or are easily distracted, using a timer can be really helpful. When the timer goes off, move on to the next activity on your list. This will help keep you focused and working productively.

These are just a few strategies anyone can use when they decide to start time blocking. Time blocking can seem like a difficult task at first, but it gets easier and more beneficial the longer you use this strategy! So, what are you waiting for? Time to get productive!
