This is a win-win situation. It not only establishes you as the expert who has the answers but also creates curiosity in your readers, who may now stick around your website and check out what else you have to offer.

Keywords are the terms your audience uses to find content like yours when looking for the answers.  That’s why choosing the right keywords is crucial to your blog’s visibility.  

When you have relevant keywords, you help your audience find your content easily, ensure it reaches the right people, and get your information ranking well on search engines. 

To find the best keywords, start by using tools like Google Keyword Planner or Answer the Public to find popular search terms. Make sure that the keywords you choose are relevant to both your content and your audience. 

A good question to ask yourself is, “If I was looking for my services, what would I put into the Google search bar?”  This is a good way to start your search.

You want to make sure that your keywords are being searched and that they don’t have too high of a competition.  If you are a relatively new site, competing for a keyword with a site that has high authority might make it more difficult to rank. 

Writing and Structuring

Craft a Compelling Title

Your title is the first thing people see, so make it count. It needs to be catchy and informative to draw readers in and let them know they are in the right place.

Use power words and emotional triggers to make your title stand out. These can evoke curiosity, urgency, or excitement.  Some examples of power words are: New, Proven, Secret, State-of-the-Art, Ground-Breaking, Limited, Exclusive, Final, Luxury, Award-Winning, Authentic, and Certified.

Write a Strong Introduction

Clearly state what they will learn from your post. This helps them understand the value of reading further.

Organize with Headings and Subheadings

You want to make sure that your blog post is well-structured and easy to follow.  This will help with readability and user experience.

You want to guide your readers through your post but also make it easy for them to skip to what they want to see.  One of the ways you can do this is with H2 and H3 headings. 

Use short paragraphs and plenty of white space. This makes your content more inviting for your readers.

Think about your readers’ experience. Organized content helps them find what they need quickly and keeps them engaged longer – keeping them on your page longer and improving your bounce rate.

Editing and Proofreading

Start by removing unnecessary words. Every word in your post should add value. If it doesn’t, cut it out.

A best practice is to always check the box to have the link open in a new window.  You want to be helpful, but you also want readers to stay on your site, and opening the additional resources in another window keeps your blog available.

Images can enhance your blog post and make it more engaging, but they need to be optimized for SEO as well.

Use descriptive filenames for your images. Instead of generic names like “image1.jpg,” use filenames that describe the content of the image, such as “content-marketing-tips.jpg.”

Add alt text with keywords. Alt text provides a description of the image for search engines and improves accessibility for visually impaired readers. Including keywords in your alt text can also help with SEO.

Please keep in mind that alt text is to help visually impaired readers have access to your blog so don’t use descriptions that don’t make sense just to get more keywords in your content.

By optimizing your images, you make your blog post more accessible and improve its visibility in search engine results.
